What Is Forex Scalping?

By Jared Mann

Forex Scalping is a trading strategy employed by professionals in banks, hedge funds and other proprietary trading groups.

You could classify all trading strategies into 3 different groups; Scalping, Swing and Position. Each group is defined by the average length of time the trade is held. For Swing trading average trades last between 1-30 days, position trading trades are between 30-180 days, anything longer would be classified as investing, however for scalping, trades can last only minutes to several hours.

Forex scalping involves making lots of small trades each day looking for quick gains. In swing trading we may look for a 1, 2 or 4% moves for example, however in scalping we are only looking for a 0.1, 0.2 or 0.3% move, and since most currencies move on average 1% per day, we can get our scalping profits in a matter of hours or less.

Typically scalping strategies use a large stop loss and a tight profit target, this ensures we give the market a lot of room to hit our profit target, and results in a high win rate. In scalping you want more than 90% of your trades to end in profit, so almost every day is profitable.

Up until several years ago, manual scalping was a viable way of trading, however in recent years that has changed, the market has become more electronic with the majority of volume being done by automated trading systems. Therefore it's necessary to use a automated trading robot to succeed in forex scalping.

If you're looking for a Automated Scalping System then we recommend you visit http://www.freefxtradingrobot.com today and get their highly profitable scalping robot now whilst they still have free copies available.

Forex Trading Education - What Is A Trailing Stop Loss?

By Harold Hsu

Trailing stop losses are a very popular topic among new traders. It seems like trailing stop losses have the best of both worlds: you can protect yourself from losing too much, and also lock in more and more profits at the same time.

What Is A Trailing Stop Loss?

Basically, a trailing stop loss involves the moving of your stop loss level as your trade progresses in your favour.

For example, when you buy a currency pair and the price moves up 30 pips, your stop loss level (which was initially 30 pips below your entry price) is then moved to your entry price, ensuring that you won't lose any money.

When the market rice moves a further 30 pips higher (a total of 60 pips above your entry price), your stop loss level will be positioned at 30 pips higher than your entry level.

However, when prices start moving against your favour, the trailing stop loss does not shift.

2 Types Of Trailing Stop Loss

Trailing stop losses can either be placed manually by the trader, or automatically placed by a trading platform.

Manual trailing stop losses are typically placed at prominent support/resistance levels, especially below previous swing lows or above previous swing highs. It is up to the individual trader to determine where to place the trailing stop loss.

A more popular way of using stop losses however, is to set a fixed pip amount to trail the market price. This can be done in most trading platforms.

In the above example, the trailing stop loss is set to trail the market by 30 pips. It is initially placed below the entry price by 30 pips, and as the market price moves up by 30 pips, the stop loss is shifted to the entry price (which is 30 pips below the new market price).

What is Forex? - How Can We Make Money From the Forex Markets

By Gerben Burgers

Foreign Exchange

The FOREX (an acronym for "foreign exchange"), is the exchange of one currency into another currency. Currencies are not traded on an exchange, but directly between (central) banks, multinationals, governments and financial institutions. For the most part, the Forex market consists of hedging positions and strategies of national and international multinational corporations. Suppose a company has a contract for the provision of goods, such as cars, in the future. The CFO (chief financial officer) of that business will protect himself from potential financial loss by hedging fluctuating exchange rates. Hedging means covering the risk of loss by future fluctuations of the exchange rate. This is because there is a period between the signing of the contract and the actual delivery of the goods, in this case cars. It is hedging that brings massive amounts of money to the forex market.

The Players

There are three types of players on the forex market. The first are those I described before: the hedger or commercial players. The second are the financial institutions such as banks and retirement funds. The third player on the market consists of individual retail traders. Retail traders are a fringe group within the complete forex market, but this does not make it an unimportant one. The institutes and retail traders are on the market to earn money, whereas the hedgers are there to cover future losses.

Prices

Forex trading is powered by prices mutually agreed on. The price of a currency also varies per bank or money broker. In practice these differences are minimal, however.

The Market

The complete forex trade totals more than $ 1.9 trillion a day,is about thirty times bigger than the total U.S. stock market and is still growing on a daily basis. Although there is no central exchange on the forex, the following are the great foreign exchange centres of the world: London with a market share of 34.1%, New York with 16.6% and Tokyo with 6.6%. The forex market is open twenty-four hours a day, the three major trading centres being active in succession. The currency market follows the sun, starting in London, followed by New York, Asia and London again a day later. The exchange opens on Sunday and closes on Friday night.

Currency Pairs

On the forex you always trade one currency against another. You buy one currency by selling another and you sell one by buying another currency. We always speak of currency pairs. For example, if the currency pair EUR / USD (Euro / US dollar) is at 1.5, this indicates the price of the Euro in dollars, in this case 1.5 dollars. 1 Euro will then cost 1.5 dollars in this example. The first currency of the pair is called the base currency. On Forex, the prices of the currencies are usually displayed in 4 decimal places. In this case, the price of the EUR / USD is displayed as 1.5000, with the last decimal place (1.5000) as the smallest 'tick' value in the market. This smallest value is called a P.I.P. (Price Interest Point). A change in price of a currency pair is therefore indicated in the number of pips.

Example:

The EUR/USD changes in price from 1500 to 1504, which means an increase of 4 pips for this currency pair.

Currency Majors

Of course, there are countless currencies in the world that can be traded. We focus only on the currencies which have the most price activity. These are the so-called currency majors. The currency majors are: US Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), British Pound (GBP), Japanese Yen (JPY), Swiss Franc (CHF), Canedian Dollar (CAD), Australian Dollar (AUD), New Zealand Dollar (NZD). It shows that over 85 percent of the total forex market consists of a currency combined with the U.S. dollar. The most traded currency pairs are: EUR/USD, with a 27% share USD/JPY, with a 13% share GBP/USD (also known as 'sterling' or 'cable'), with a 12% share.

Bulls And Bears

When a currency increases in value compared to other currencies, we speak of a 'bullish' or 'bull' market. When the value of the currency decreases, compared to other currencies, we speak of a 'bearish' or 'bear' market. In other words, an increasing price is called bullish and a decreasing price is called bearish. There is a constant imaginary battle between the bulls and bears. The bulls attack with their horns in an upward motion, whereas the bears attack with their claws in a downward motion. This metaphor refers to the buyers and sellers on the currency market: the bulls represent the buyers and the bears represent the sellers.

Is Forex Demo Trading Bad For Your Financial Health?

By Andrew Chin Weng Keong

While brokers began offering free forex demo accounts, forex demo trading has received a great deal of attention. No doubt, both newbies as well as more experienced traders generally recommended to use free demo accounts to examine their new systems. However is it right for all circumstances, or does it sometimes have disadvantages? We'll take a look at the pros and cons of demonstration accounts so that you could make up your own mind. It is possible for forex demo trading damage your financial health?

First, have a look from the broker's point of view What might be the catch for allowing you to try their tools free of charge? The main reason, of course, is that they are hoping you'll sign up for a real account. If you happen to be a beginner, they want to get you making money on a practice account to ensure that you get really excited about putting in your own money. For experienced traders, they want you to find out how great their platform is to ensure that you will think about switching your account.

There's nothing wrong with any of that. Practicing trading is a great technique to learn. The primary advantage of a practice account is that it lets you test out a broker's services or a system without any risk. In fact, in the event you were to read a couple of books about forex and then start trading for real right away, pretty much somebody would let you know that you're mad.

The problem comes if you do not realize that there is really a difference between trading virtual money and trading for real. In your demo account, you tend to take greater risks than you will take in real trading. If you happen to be lucky and do well on those trades, you can become overconfident. You would think you had mastered forex trading when in reality you're just starting out. Subsequently you place all your savings right into a live trading account, begin to try to follow the same system, and bang! The risks were being too high, the stress was too great, a couple of losing trades and you are wiped out.

So foreign exchange demos may be very practical, but they ought to be used correctly. From the moment that you open a demo account, remember that it is extremely important to stay disciplined. Make a big effort to act as if that was you money using just a system as well as stick to your trading strategy. As soon as you could see a trend of profits and losses, with an overall profit, you could think about switching to real trading. At that time you can open a micro account and start trading very small sums. That is the best possible method to take advantage of a forex demo trading account.

Auto Forex Trading - What To Look For In A Forex Robot

By Akinyemi Mujeeb Olalekan

The Forex industry is the biggest market in the world with almost a four trillion dollar turnover every single day. It is several times larger than the stock market, which gives you an opportunity to earn a huge amount of profits. Even if you can get even a tiny slice of the amount being transacted in the Forex market, you can become incredibly wealthy. However, not all of us may have the time and the aptitude to trade efficiently in the forex market. Fortunately, there are automated expert advisors known as Forex robots which can trade automatically on your behalf.

There are a lot of advantages in using a forex robot. You need not spend time learning the nuances of the forex industry before starting to trade. You can let the automated EA do the job of trading profitably on your behalf. Apart from shortening the learning curve, the Forex robot can also save you time on a daily basis, by trading on your behalf without needing your presence. You can go about doing your own work while the robot does your trading for you.

However, there are other disadvantages that you need to be aware of. Most forex robots are not as accurate as you would like them to be. So you need to choose a Forex robot that is accurate in its predictions. If you allow an inefficient robot to do trading on a live account, you can pretty soon lose your entire investment. Choosing an efficient robot is critical to seeing consistent profits. Here are a few criteria that you need to consider while choosing the robot for automated forex trading.

First of all, check to see the accuracy rate of the robot. If it is has a consistent track record of high accuracy rates, only then you should go for it. There are many robot developers that try to 'prove' that their systems are highly accurate by showing demos using their robots to trade using past market price data. You need to understand that robots can be fine-tuned to work accurately on past data. The challenge really is in predicating accurately when faced with new market fluctuations. Most robots would fail in real-time live conditions. So look for a robot that can deal with real market conditions and still make accurate predictions.

Next, look for an automated EA that has been in the market for a considerable period of time. There are many newcomers entering into the market with no previous track record. You need to choose a system that has a long history of successful trading. Therefore, go for a robot that has been in the market for quite a while.

Finally, look for testimonials from real users who have reviewed a particular robot and appreciated its performance. Also, look to see if there are negative reviews on the robot that you are interested. If you find a particular robot with good reviews, then you can add it to your shortlist.

These are the three main criteria that you must use to select an efficient and accurate Forex robot to handle all your forex transactions.

When the Forex Market Is Most Active

By Matthew Vint

There are certain trading times in the Forex market that allow you to arguably make more money and profit. Despite the fact that the currency market is open 24 hours a day (excluding weekends), there are specific times when the FX market is moving faster.

The main time zones for trading are EDT, GMT and JST (New York, London and Tokyo). Although each main trading time zone bears a specific time bracket, there are always typically two trading time zone brackets that are overlapping with each other.

The New York trading time zone bracket runs from 9AM to 5PM EST. The London trading time zone bracket runs from 3AM to 12PM EST. The Tokyo trading time zone bracket runs from 7PM to 4AM. The Forex market is quite obviously going to be more active during the overlaps of the main trading time zone brackets. These brackets are generally known as trading "sessions".

Also, in terms of trading, it is generally the best time to trade in the middle of the business week as that is when the Forex market is the most active (more specifically between Tuesday and Wednesday). The worst times to trade Forex (due to low activity and movement) is typically on any Friday, Sunday or during a holiday.

"Pips" can be used to measure the minimum price movement of an exchange rate (in other words, the minimum change an exchange rate can make). When you buy a product in a store, you pay the price of the product to the nearest penny - this means that the pip (percentages in point) is equal to 1 penny in ordinary transactions. However, in Forex, the value of exchange rates are priced to 4 decimal places (for most major currency pairs). The smallest change possible is that of the last decimal place, so 1 pip = $0.0001. It could be said for most currency pairs that the smallest change possible is equal to 1/100th of 1 percent (AKA 1 basis point).

If you want to know how to calculate how much each pip will be worth to you as a trader and investor, simply divide 1 pip in decimal form (0.0001) by the exchange rate of the currency pair you are trading and then multiply it by the notional amount (AKA face amount) of the trade you are making.

Going back to the Forex market, there are certain currency pairs that are the most active in each trading session, with the highest amount of pips in each session.

The London Session (running from 3AM to 12PM EST) and its main currency pairs (each with their average level of activity, in pips):

- GBP/CHF (145 pips)

- GBP/JPY (140 pips)

- USD/CHF (115 pips)

- GBP/USD (110 pips)

- USD/CAD (90 pips)

- EUR/USD (80 pips)

- USD/JPY (75 pips).

The New York Session (running from 9AM to 5PM EST) and its main currency pairs (each with their average level of activity, in pips):

- GBP/CHF (130 pips)

- GBP/JPY (120 pips)

- USD/CHF (110 pips)

- GBP/USD (90 pips)

- USD/CAD (80 pips)

- EUR/USD (75 pips).

Tokyo Session (running from 7PM to 4AM EST) and its main currency pairs (each with their average level of activity, in pips):

- GBP/JPY (110 pips)

- GBP/CHF (90 pips)

- USD/JPY (75 pips)

- USD/CHF (65 pips)

- GBP/USD (60 pips)

- AUD/JPY (55 pips).

As you can see, the London session tends to be the most active, closely followed by the New York session and then the Tokyo session.

In conclusion, although the Forex market is open 24 hours a day, there are certain times during the day or week When The Forex market is most active and best to trade in. More specifically, there three main trading sessions that run through each trading day. We can use pips to measure the extent to which each session is active and we can choose optimal times to trade Forex, by choosing a time that preferably coincides with the overlap of two main trading sessions.

Unbiased Independent Zulu Trade Review - Is Forex Signal Service a ''Cash Proof'' System?

By Bill Achola Wright

Zulu trade is in the business of trading Forex by managing Forex investment accounts automatically by helping forex investors to make investment decisions that will make them money. Before you select any managed account service or any trading system programs, there are some factors that should be checked before you invest in Forex.

Act like a detective when taking the first step in choosing a managed Forex account or a ''girl on a first date''. Find out about the company's growth career, how long the company has been trading and managing investors money. You want a managed account service that has an impeccable record and has experience in managed Forex trading online.

You are looking for a managed Forex trading online company that will look after your interests, not just fatten their interests with commissions. The investment company should not just be after trades but it should be after establishing your investment plan and pick the right plan for you. To do this, you must first understand what kind of investor you are.

Reject a forex managed account service that is right into selling you something. Pay attention to warning signs when the service account gives you the sales pitch first before asking you about financial goals. If you allow yourself to get carried by the sales pitch, here´s what can happen.

The Forex investment company can choose a plan that may not suit your needs or it might be looking for ways to persuade you to trade on Forex on some hot rumours although the professional trader knows that the market will slide.

Advantages of selecting ''ZULU TRADE'' as your Forex Signal Trading:

a. Zulu trade is a fully registered Forex investment company since 2006 and when you invest your money with the said managed account your investment will be highly secured and protected.

b. It uses a forex signal system that predict the market condition and tells you the right time to buy and sell your trade for maximum returns. The trading signals are provided by other third party signal providers such as the forex brokers.

c. The forex managed account will allow you to instruct your Forex broker to sell a trade if it falls below a specified price to prevent further loss. The managed account will use a ''Stop Loss Order''. If you were concerned that a particular trade you won will fall in price. A stop loss order is used by the said managed account service to protect unrealised profits or prevent further losses on capital injected.

d. The said forex managed account service has feature known as ''Limit Order'' where by it will instruct your Forex broker to buy or sell a trade at a specific price. It will use a limit order when the trade you are interested in, keeps changing in price. This prevents your Forex broker from buying too high or selling to low. A limit order guaranteed a price but not an execution.

e. Another advantage of Zulu trade, it has a trading system known as Auto Trader Market Order. The market order will give your Forex broker the signal to buy or sell a particular trade at the current market price. A market order guarantees execution at profitable trade.

f. Good-till-cancelled (GIC) or day order: when placing a limit, or stop order, you will be asked if you want it to be ''Good Until it is Cancelled'' or ''Good for the Day''. This allows you to choose the length of time the order will remain open for execution at the market place.

The purpose of this article therefore to prove to you that indeed forex managed account is a cash proof and beside that is to provide adequate information on how to manage investment account with Zulu Trade, so as to get you started in the Forex market.

Is There a Truly Profitable Forex Trading System Out There?

By Dick Aronson

If you are reading this article you have more than likely already heard of the massive foreign currency trading market which according to Wikipedia has a daily turnover of $3.98 trillion a day.

Maybe you have done some research, or even already had a go at a little trading.

If you have then you know how hard it is to make money trading forex, so unless you have very deep pockets, an infinite amount of patience and total control of your emotions you are now looking at automated forex systems as a possible means of getting an extra income from this incredibly rich market.

Well there are many forex robots out there, new ones appear and disappear with alarming regularity. Unfortunately most look pretty good as long as the market moves along fairly smoothly but as invariably happens, as soon as there is a spike in trading such as can be caused by market news or government intervention you can lose your entire bank.

There are a number of semi automated forex trading systems around which can offer better results, they provide you with forex signals, charts and other forex indicators which enable you to make supposedly informed decisions.

However once again they depend on your being able to learn the system, spend a lot of time watching and then control your emotions. The latter is particularly hard as virtually no one likes to make a loss which results in people riding a trend too far in the vain hope that it will turn around and thus losing even more of their hard earned cash.

So what are we left with, we know there are some highly successful forex trading software systems in use by some of the major players in the currency markets but I have never come across one available to the public.

Early last year I thought I had come across a sensational new automated forex trading system developed by a company which released it's software to the market in October 2010.

I was introduced to the developers by a good friend just before the software was released and invited to come and have a look around their offices. As it happened I was actually there when the Japanese government intervened in their currency and watched in amazement as the US$/JPY exchange rates went absolutely nuts.

Millions of dollars were lost by some in mere moments but after an initial relatively small loss, the system handled the situation extremely well with minimal losses. Most impressive.

I was shown a fair number of actual accounts operated by the company's directors with their own money. Some had trading parameters set at higher risk levels and showed an incredible 120% profit per month, some were set at what I was told extremely conservative levels and these accounts showed a mere 20% profit a month!

What would you give to make a comfortable 20% a month on your capital without having to do a thing?

I'll tell you what I did, together with my business partner we immediately bought 3 systems and started trading with excellent results.

Unfortunately, along came the trouble in Egypt followed by continual problems in the Eurozone and what had been a fantastic trading system came crashing down and even though we changed the software's settings to extremely conservative, we lost all of our invested capital.

Lesson learned, even with years of successful trading behind a system, unusual circumstances can still cause you major losses in the Forex market.

To summarise, I don't believe there is a risk free forex trading system available to the public.

There are lots of claims and there is lots of so called evidence to back those claims but I do not know of even one system that can provide conclusive evidence of profitability over any length of time.

My advice therefore is if you can't afford to lose your investment, don't go into currency trading.

What Is a Forex Trading Bot and How Does It Resemble a Cash Cow?

By Freddy Ye

Introduction

This resource aims to introduce people to the world of automated Forex trading, and help the them get started.

It will also out line the dos and donts of this process, with the intention of helping new user avoid costly mistakes.

What is Automated Forex Trading?

So what is Automated Forex Trading?

Well, if you have ever traded before, whether it is stocks, CFD or Forex, then you will have likely have to learn and adopt a trading system. This system could be based on technical analysis on charts, then you have to sit there in front of your computer screen, every time you decided to make a trade.

Most people watch their screen for the best part of the day when day trading.

Now, imagine you hired an "expert" to trade for you. This expert will watch the charts for you and make the trade for you base on her extensive trading experience. And she will report back to you at the end of each day of her results, and how much money she has made (or lose) for you, while you sit at the beach sipping coconut juice on the Gold Coast in Australia.

This "Expert" is a computer program, in which we call "Expert Adviser", or trading "Bot", and this bot is used exclusively (in most cases) to trade on the Forex Market.

So in a nut shell:

Automated Forex Trading is the act of using a computer program to buy and sell currency pairs on the forex market.

The platform in which this "Expert Adviser" operates is MetaTrader, and most Forex Brokers will support the Meta Trading Platform.

The good and the bad of Automated Forex Trading

So if Automated Forex Trading is about getting a robot to make you money on the market while you sleep, what's the catch?

The Bad

Well the catch is the not all Expert Advisers on the market today are profitable over the long run, and even the 'good' ones need to be properly managed and configured to ensure it's running smoothly so it doesn't "over bet" itself as your capital increase over time.

So for the newbie who just got his hot hands on a new "kick ass" bot can potentially lose money due to the lack of testing, poor configuration and the lack of proper money management.

The Good

But the good news is that, if you take your time to property test your bot, give it proper settings and calibrate it monthly, and have a conservative money management strategy, then you will benefit from trading bots greatly over the long run.

If done correctly with trading bots, then you can have PASSIVE income.

Passive income in my option, is the "Holy Grail" of becoming rich. It means, you earn money while you sleep.

Getting 5-10% (or more) on your money every month is very achievable, which compounds to about 79% to 313% per year. This is a great return, compared to your average term deposit in Australia at the time of writing is only 6% per year.

So say we are conservative, and use 79% return on investment per year, if you invest $5000, in 3 years time, you get $28,676!

And all this time, you did nothing, other than check your bots every month.

What do i need to get started?

Now that you know the potential of Forex bots to become your "Cash Cow", how to we get started?

Well, you will need 3 steps:

1) Sign up with a broker

There are many brokers out there, for a list of recommended brokers, please see below.

Please note that brokers WILL affect your performance, some brokers have smaller spreads than others, some brokers can even rip you off, and create artificial spikes to push your bot into triggering its stop losses, so make sure you do your research.

Make sure you create a demo account with that broker first.

Once you downloaded your broker's version of Metatrader 4, just install it by following the instruction.

Once installed, open the application and have a play with the interface.

2) Get a Bot

There are many bots on the net that you can download, some are free and some you have to purchase. I have a recommended list of bots that i use, please see below for more info.

And before choosing your bot, make sure you read about it.

Once you get your bot, it is then a matter of copying the source file of the bot into your MT4. Most bots will guide you through the installation, so this step is straight forward.

3) Test the bot

No matter how good the bot claims to be, you will need to do some backwards and forward testing on it before you can give it real money to play with.

In MetaTrader 4, there is a function call "Strategy Tester". You can use this to feed historical data into the bot of your choice, and see how it performs. This is called "backward testing".

Even more important is to do "forward testing" which is using your demo account and run the bot with live data.

Knowing how to test and configurate your bot correctly is an integral part of your success, so skipping this step can be very bad for your bank account.

Final Thoughts

There you have it, I hope this short article has given you some insight in this exciting industry, however, we have barely scratched the surface.

To learn more, please subscribe to my newsletter, by subscribing you get:

Forex Trading Education - What Is the Best Way to Learn Forex?

By Kelly Price

How should you learn Forex and what educational sources should you use? Here will look at how to get the best Forex education and get on the road to Forex trading success.

First don't make the mistake most new traders do and buy cheap Forex robots because you will lose. In a market where 95% of traders lose money, you don't get rich by making no effort and spending a couple of hundred dollars - If your not prepared to do some study, don't bother trading Forex.

You have a choice between fundamental analysis and studying the supply and demand situation or using Forex charts and I would strong recommend using charts, because it's easier to make money and more time efficient. All you have to do is study high odds chart formations and lock into and hold trends. You don't care why prices are moving you just want to make money when they do.

When using a technical system always keep in mind you need to keep it simple if its to complex it will have to many elements to break. All you need to do is have a knowledge of support and resistance and use a few technical indicators to confirm your market timing and you can build a system which can make money. You can get all this information for free or if you want a but more help, there are courses on line which will teach you how to blend a system together.

Once you have your system together you need to keep in mind you need to have the right mindset to trade with discipline and this is the hard part for many traders. They can't take losses and keep them small and while this sounds easy, when hard cash is on the line, its not. Trading Secrets Revealed - What Is RSI in Forex Trading?

By Ahmad A Hassam

Relative Strength Index (RSI) is one of the important indicators used in technical analysis. RSI is a momentum oscillator that can be used in stock trading, futures trading, forex trading and commodity trading. RSI indicator was developed by J Welles Wilder for the commodities market in the late 1970s. But over the years, it has been found to work very well for the forex as well as the stocks market.

RSI is usually used on the 14 day timeframe and it measures the velocity and magnitude of the directional price movements as a ratio of the higher closes to the lower closes. We don't need to go into the details of how the RSI indicator values are calculated as you will only need to read the RSI indicator graph values below the price action on the chart. It is called an oscillator as its values oscillate between the two values of 0 and 100.

Overbought and Oversold Indicator

RSI is also known as the Overbought and Oversold Indicator. RSI is plotted on an index of 0-100. 50 is the center line. Readings above 70 are considered to be overbought and readings below 30 are considered to be oversold. However, you will need to confirm this overbought and oversold condition with other indicators!

Divergence Trading Using RSI

Divergences are important trend reversal signals which when combined with other indicators give high probability trade setups. RSI is widely used in identifying divergence patterns. A divergence pattern develops on the chart when the price action moves in one direction and the indicator moves in the other.

For example, the price action is moving up with the slope ascending while on the other hand the RSI is moving down with the slope descending. This pattern is known as a Positive Divergence Pattern or Bullish Divergence Pattern. It indicates a potential trend reversal from up to down. Similarly, when the price action is sloping down while the RSI indicator is sloping up, this indicates the bearish divergence pattern.

Over the years, this RSI indicator has been widely used by the traders to trade forex, stocks and commodities and it has withheld the test of time. It was introduced in 1978 as said above by Wilder but it still works. That is because this indicator was developed by Wilder using sound theoretical principles that were universal in nature. RSI is extensively used in divergence trading and produces good buy/sell signals!

What Is Forex Harmonic Trading?

By Tina Dever

If you're like most Forex traders, you're probably not making consistent money yet. You've also probably spent hours and hours looking for the best system, or even any system that will produce consistent profits.

And if you're like most Forex traders, you've probably seen a large variety of "systems" out there, but you've realized that many of them are very vague: while they give concepts, they don't give specifics. You've read the details over and over again but you can't find concrete rules for exactly when you're supposed to enter and exit, and as a result, most of your trades end up losing money. In fact, you may even suspect that the systems were deliberately vague on purpose so that their creators can hold no accountability.

Thus, your search continues...

Consider harmonic trading. Harmonic trading is substantially different from most of the Forex systems you have encountered. For starters, harmonic trading doesn't rely on indicators. Surely you've encountered dozens of systems that use a combination of indicators or even some proprietary indicators, and you know by now that they don't work because they're just derivatives of price and really have nothing to do with price itself.

Harmonic trading looks at patterns that price is making, and based on historical instances of those patterns, produces a likely future scenario for the instrument you are trading. In other words, harmonic patterns reveal when you have the best chances of making a profit by going long or short, because in the past when price set up the same type of pattern, price moved the same way.

The nature of harmonic trading results in exact entry and exit signals. There is no vagueness or wondering what you should do. This alone will be a welcome change to most Forex traders who are tired of getting confusing signals from their old systems.

Harmonic trading can also be programmed into an auto trader (sometimes called an "Expert Advisor" program). Auto traders analyze Forex charts in real time and give you specific entry and exit signals. In fact, auto traders can even be programmed to take trades for you so that you don't have to stare at your charts 24/7.

So once again, harmonic trading is something you should look into if you:

- prefer preciseness and exact buy and sell signals as opposed to vague concepts
- don't like indicators
- are looking for something new that most people have not even heard of before

Forex Trading - What Is Market Spread in Forex?

By Ahmad A Hassam

Spread is the difference between the bid and the ask prices of currency pairs. Currencies get traded in pairs like EURUSD, GBPUSD, USDJPY etc. Suppose, EURUSD bid price is 1.3453 and the ask price is 1.3456. What this means is that if you want to sell EURUSD, you will get the rate 1.3453 and if you want to buy EURUSD, you will get 1.3456. So, you will always pay more to buy a pair and get less when you sell that pair. The trader placing the order demands liquidity and is willing to pay a certain spread for that. While the market maker supplies the liquidity in the shape of charging the spread. This is the basis of the bid ask spread.

Forex market developed after the collapse of the Bretton Woods System in 1973. Currencies became free floating and exchange rate instead of being fixed was subject the the market forces of demand and supply. Today, forex market is the largest global market where more than $3 trillion of currencies get transacted daily.

The main force behind the development of the currency market is the rise of international trade and finance. Over the past many decades, the global economy has become highly interlinked. Large banks and corporations need to exchange currencies. Countries make huge imports. This requires the payment of foreign currency to the exporter.

Almost all the countries import oil. In order to import oil, they need to convert their local currencies into US Dollar as USD is the main currency in which oil is bought and sold. In the same manner, countries need to import coffee, coca, soyabeans and other commodities for local use. This requires conversion of local currency into foreign currency. The rate you get is based on the supply and demand for that currency in the international market.

Multi nationals have their operations spread all over the world. They need to pay their employees and repatriate profits. Whatever, these huge currency transactions by the central banks, large banks, corporations, hedge funds and other big dogs sets the stage for a huge global over the counter currency market where big players pay for the foreign currency in terms of their domestic currency.

Now, unlike other markets, the currency market is segmented. At the top is the Interbank Market. This is for the big players, like very large banks and large institutions and corporations. They make huge currency transactions. The interbank market has the lowest spreads as the currency transactions are huge.

Below the interbank market comes the dealers and market makers for the retail market who demand a certain additional spread for supplying liquidity to the small traders. So, in the retain market, you will get a spread that is a few pips more than the interbank market.

As the forex market is unregulated, this spread can vary from one dealer to another. So, you need to be careful and choose only that broker that supplies the best spread to you as spread in the long run is your trading cost and you need to keep it low. Good Luck!

What is FOREX Trading Platform and How Does it Work? Learn the Answer Here

By John Eather

What is FOREX? Foreign Exchange Market, also known as 'FOREX' or 'FX' is the largest financial market in the world with a daily turnover of US $3. 2 trillion. The FOREX trading platform allows us to buy one currency and sell another. Currencies trade in pairs, like the US Dollar / Japanese Yen (USD/JPY).

There are two reasons to buy and sell currencies. About 5% of the daily turnover is generated by companies and governments that buy or sell products and services in a foreign country, or have to convert profits from foreign sales into domestic currency. The remaining 95% is represented by profit or speculative transactions.

How does FOREX work? Most traders focus on major currencies. In the present, over 85% of daily transactions involve trading this type of currencies including U. S. Dollar, Euro, Japanese Yen, British Pound, Canadian Dollar, Swiss Franc and Australian Dollar. Open 24 hours a day, FOREX trading begins in Sydney and moves around the globe. Investors can react immediately to currency fluctuations caused by economic, social and political events, whenever they occur.

FOREX market is considered an over-the-counter market, because transactions are conducted either by telephone or by electronic networks, having no central exchange.

It's not difficult to read a foreign exchange quote if you keep in mind two things: the first currency listed is the base currency and the value of the base currency is always 1. U. S. Dollar (USD) is normally the essence of the FOREX market and currently it represents the base currency for quotes. For example, a quote of USD / JPY 120. 01 means that 1USD = 120. 01 JPY.

When using FOREX trading platform, often you'll see a quote of 2 sides, namely the BID and the ASK. The BID is the price at which you can sell base currency (at the same time buying the counter currency). The ASK is the price at which you can BUY base currency (at the same time selling the counter-pair).

If you're ready to invest money, you can start using FOREX trading platform anytime. FOREX market transactions should be treated carefully, because you can lose everything.

Homemaker's FAQ on Forex Trading and Forex Trading Signal Service

By Linda Wilkinson

People tend to have many questions when they are presented with something new, especially when it is related to their money. The following are questions that homemakers frequently ask regarding forex trading and forex trading signal service:

Q1: Is forex trading safe?
A1: Trading forex is of course safe. The reason is because today more and more country regulates forex market and they enforce strict rules that every forex broker must follow. As a result, we find that only the good brokers stay in the forex trading industry. On a personal level though, it is up to you to determine the safety of your account. If you trade recklessly then you will find that your capital will drain rapidly. Sometimes it is faster to lose money in forex trading than in casino. Therefore, you need to prepare yourself mentally and acquire lots and lots of knowledge or you can choose to go with hiring a good profitable trader and subscribe to his trading signal service. The latter is by far the faster, easier way to trade forex if you have limited or no knowledge about forex at all.

Q2: Can a homemaker succeed in forex trading?
A2: Of course, you can succeed in forex trading just like other trader. Everyone who trades forex have the same opportunity. In fact, homemakers have more potential to succeed because they have the most flexible schedule and needless to say, they have more time at their disposal than any other newcomer in forex trading. Homemakers usually develop the ability to do multitasking and this is the number one reason they can manage hectic days without a hitch. And actually, people can multitask forex trading if only they know how to do it. First of all, they need to find a genuine forex trading signal service and subscribe to it. Second, just do the things they usually do day in day out. Homemakers don't answer to any boss so they can use their time in any way they want and do the tasks however they want as long as the finish the tasks. This is why homemakers have the most potential to succeed if they know how to manage their abundant time.

Q3: Do I need to have experience in international finance to start trading forex?
A3: If you decided to trade forex with your own might then you need to go through the learning curve. However, if you join a trading signal service you don't need to have any experience in trading at all. This is why assisted trading is deemed the easiest way to participate in the forex market. Assisted trading is a term used to describe trading using the assistance of a trading signal service.

Q4: Can someone who only graduates from high school trade forex?
A4: This answer is of course, yes. All you need to do is to find good trader who consistently profit from the market and pay him to let you know what currency pair to trade, when to enter the market and when to exit. If you are humble enough to let someone professional help you then you are fine.

Q5: What do I need to become successful in forex trading?
A5: You need to have a strong commitment, willingness to learn things and diligently update your knowledge or information. Most people fail because they don't have a strong commitment from the start. Also, many people just don't have the right kind of information or knowledge.

Q6: Do I need to have a high-tech computer?
A6: Absolutely not. You don't need to have a computer that look like Star Trek or any other alien spaceship. A computer with 512 RAM, Pentium 4 2.67 Ghz, 80 Gb hard disk drive and windows xp is enough for you to be able to trade forex. However you need to know that it is important not to open multiple programs that consume a lot of resources from your computer or heavy program while you are trading forex. In nature, forex software such as Meta Trader 4 (commonly abbreviated as MT4) is very light and does not require computer with high specification.

Q7: Do I need to have a high-speed internet to trade forex?
A7: Well, it depends on what you mean by high-speed. Generally, an internet connection with 512 Kbps or more is already enough. It doesn't really matter whether your subscription is DSL or cable. However, you need at least 1 Mbps if you want to incorporate scalping method in your trading because some scalping methods require you to trade using a time frame lower than 1 minute. Moreover, scalpers usually trade during active trading hours (session overlaps or session open). Nonetheless, scalping is not a trading method anyone can use. Also, it is important to note that while trading using wi-fi is not prohibited it is far safer to trade using wired internet connection. The reason is because internet connection loss is rare if you are plugged with a cable rather than using wireless connection.

Q8: What is the best forex broker out there?
A8: Most of today's brokers are good because of the increasing number of regulations that swept the forex trading industry. The list is long but there are paths that you can follow to determine which broker is the best for you. You can choose to use a forex broker that has a presence in your own country because this will reduce the cost of transferring fund to and from your trading account. You can choose to use a broker outside of your country if you are looking for features that your domestic broker doesn't have such as higher leverage or the ability to hedge or trade CFDs. Lastly, you can choose to use a forex broker based on the spread they offer. For whatever trading conditions that you require in a forex broker you will most likely find the broker that will suit your need.

Q9: How much money do I need to have to start trading forex?
A9: The first thing you need to remember is forex trading is a business and as with any other business it requires a good business plan and enough capital to start. You have to keep reality in check and don't expect to enter the business with $250 and turn it to $1 million in a year. Sure, there are people who can make it but certainly not everyone. Generally, a sum of $10,000 is good to start with but many people usually start with as little as $5,000. 10% monthly return on a $10,000 account is $1,000 and it is $500 on a $5,000 account. Of course, with a solid trading plan, a good forex trading signal has the potential to drive more than 10% per month. However, consistency is what you should seek. If you can make 10% per month consistently you will see that your money will grow to a staggering $309,126.81 in 3 years. That's a growth of 3,091%. so as you can see, 10% is actually great over a span of 3 years. Stick to the goal of 10% per month and you'll reap the benefit in no time.

Q10: What is the best way to trade forex?
A10: To be brutally honest, the best way to trade forex is by subscribing to a forex trading signal service. Why? The reason is you still have full control of the account but you don't really need to do the entire task needed to be done in trading. This solution is the best because it is practical especially if you are new to forex trading and know little or nothing about forex trading. When you have more experience you can trade by yourself and in the long run, this is the best way to trade forex. However, it will take time to learn the ropes and build your confidence and gain experience. Moreover, you need to consider the costs that will incur by buying trading literatures. Overall, your costs will include time, effort and money. So the wise decision to make is to subscribe to a forex trading signal service first and learn how to trade forex properly at the same time.

Q11: How does a forex trading signal service works?
A11: The first step is you need to find the service provider that you believe can deliver strong and accurate trading signal. After that, you pay the fee upfront so you can use their service for the next 30 days. The next step is to get familiar with their service and choose the method of delivery for the trading signals. They will then alert you when a good trading opportunity surfaced. Finally, you need to enter the orders exactly as they send and you can stay away from your computer. You will be alerted if the market situation changes so you will be able to protect your profit or even maximize your profit.

Q12: How much time do I need to set aside everyday to trade forex?
A12: You don't really need to set that much time to trade forex if you are using a forex trading signal service because they will do the analysis and report the result for via email or text message (SMS). All you need to do is check the email or text message that they send which will only take 1 minute to do and then submit the orders from your trading platform. The latter will only take 5 minutes. So in total, you only need less than 10 minutes to trade forex per signal.

Q13: Can I leave my computer when I am trading?
A13: Honestly, you don't need to stay in front of your computer all day long to trade forex. There are trading methods that are suited for long term trader or medium term trader and those types of trading method do not require you to constantly monitor the market. Moreover, you can use internal function in the trading platform to alert you when price crossed the price you desired.
